Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trauma informed intake assessments (in-person and via telehealth), including psychosocial history, mental state observations, and risk screening (suicide, self-harm, family violence).
- Formulate clinical impressions, determine urgency, assess suitability for psychology services and coordinate referral pathways.
- Escalate acute risk situations in line with clinic protocols, contacting duty clinicians, crisis services or emergency services as required.
- Manage reception duties including welcoming clients, answering enquiries, scheduling appointments and coordinating telehealth links.
- Support psychologists with documentation, care coordination and referral processes.
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health nursing (community, acute or private practice).
- Strong clinical assessment, triage and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to trauma informed, recovery oriented and culturally safe practice.
Highly Regarded (but not mandatory)
- Postgraduate qualification or additional formal education in mental health nursing.
- MHFA accreditation, ASIST or suicide intervention training, family violence MARAM awareness.
